The pre-plan

March 31, April 21, 2007   Boston Emergency Squad members participated in EMS stand-by, re-hab and fire-fighting technique at the live Training Burn on Herman Hill Road with North Boston Fire Company. Boston, Patchin, East Eden, Hamburg, Colden, Big Tree and Newton-Abbott fire companies were there. There were 3 structures on this land parcel removed to make room for the eventual construction of an updated fire hall.

February 10, 2007  Snowmobile "mock drill". The scenario was 4 injured snowmobilers on the Powerline Road off Liebler Rd.  BES and Patchin worked with the Boston Snowmobile Club members to get patients packaged, out to BES ambulances and transported to Mercy Flight staged at Patchin Station #1 and/or to the hospital (also Patchin Station #1). Drill lasted about 2 hrs. with critique and refreshments afterward. Mercy Flight was available for members to view and have the opportunity to talk with the crew. Obviously, all were dressed for the weather. This was part of the Snowmobile Club's Safety Awareness Weekend Event to promote snowmobile safety awareness. A good opportunity to train with other groups.

February 8, 2007, from The Sun    Members of the Boston Emergency Squad are happy to have been notified we are to receive Federal Grant funds for Operations and Safety in the amount of $80,747.  The funds are specified to purchase EMS Equipment (defibrillators), Facility Modifications (bay exhaust system) and Personal Protective Equipment (uniforms). BES personnel worked with Connie Minor, grant writer for the Town of Boston, on this request.  The defibrillators will allow the squad to provide more access to advanced heart care for those in the Town of Boston, while the proposed exhaust system will provide safer conditions for both emergency personnel and the public who use the Squad Hall facility for training, etc.  With over 400 calls just last year, our uniforms have been put to frequent and rough use.  Replacement of uniforms is necessary but costly, and upgrading of uniforms for increased personnel safety is a concern that can now be addressed.
